National Homeownership Month is a great time to explore the programs that can help make buying a home more affordable.
“One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that buyers need a 20% down payment to purchase a home,” says Tiffany Bergsma-Evans, Mortgage Loan Officer at First Fed.
“There are loan programs available that require 0% down, including VA and USDA Rural loans, and others with as little as 3% down. There are also Down Payment Assistance Programs that can help cover both the down payment and closing costs, making homeownership much more accessible than many people realize.”
