It probably goes without saying that we, at Upleft, believe strongly that advanced math skills can serve a person well beyond their studies. We also believe that family finances should not stand in the way of a young person's ability to keep up with their peers in math class.

When your idea gets its own search result... 💡

A while back, when offering some comments to a financial journalist, Matt accidentally coined the phrase "The Envy-Industrial Complex" to describe the non-stop highlight reel on social media designed to make us spend money that we probably shouldn't spend on stuff we don't need.

Google just made it official.

The lesson? Comparison is expensive. True financial freedom happens when you stop playing a game rigged to keep you scrolling and start building your future on your own terms.

Remember that your wealth is a function of what you HAVEN'T spent!

"Part of that gap comes from something Matt Miller, certified financial planner and founder of financial planning firm Upleft, called the "envy-industrial complex" — the nonstop scroll of other people's wins, upgrades and highlight reels.

“It is hard to build wealth while drowning in the 24-hour swirl of online content,” Miller said. “The people selling the dream of putting a new Lamborghini in your garage by being another content creator are working against the long-term success of their audience.”

You may notice that the entryway to our office is looking a bit different, as of late. April is Autism Awareness Month, and the new "blue" look is to show our support for Liam’s Lights and their mission to increase acceptance of those with autism. Finding the right people to join Upleft requires sustained, focused effort. As is often the case, this search has led to terrific results, even when some of what we were looking for was hiding in plain sight.

We always keep a careful eye out for people with an abundance of intelligence, a splash of creativity, and the soul of a teacher. Most importantly, we seek those with an undeniable drive to put others' well-being ahead of their own. It is with no small amount of pride that we introduce Rob.

Rob joined our team in January. Beyond his intelligence, he brings extensive professional experience in the field of literal intelligence and high-stakes decision-making. Get to know him, and you will recognize the traits of both a craftsman and a storyteller.
