I love this..
I often provide market updates because that is useful and important information. I would also like to take a moment to discuss the significance often associated with selling your home. Because at the end of the day, it's not just a business transaction for most of us.
For most people, selling their home is personal, not transactional. Yes, everyone understands there is a business side of things and that their home is a financial investment and so on. But for so many of us, it’s where our kids first learned to walk or ride their bikes. It’s where you had your grandparents over before they passed.
I still have the grooves in the wood floor in my hallway from my grandfather’s wheelchair. And now, walking through my hallway, I’m always reminded of him and how happy he was to be at our family gatherings.
So many of my clients have similar stories. I always take the time to listen to these stories and honor the history of the home and property.
Is it important to realize the market reality and the business side? Absolutely. But it’s also important to honor the memories of the home.
Our homes are such a huge part of our lives — where we laugh and where we cry. They are where we experience so much of our lives that no one else knows about.
This is why so many people want to visit the home where they grew up or where they had happy times, because walking through a home isn’t just walking through four walls with a roof — it’s walking through our memories.
