Just wrapped up a great stretch between MassMutual's MassAcademy in Boston last week and finishing the current week with our new intern Boot Camp at MassMutual Pittsburgh.

One thing that stood out to me last week while exploring Boston, was a couple sitting together at a small table tucked into the alleyway outside their townhome. No rush, no distractions, just enjoying the weather and the moment.

It was a good reminder that after busy weeks, it’s important to slow down and make time for the people and moments that matter most.

As we head into the weekend, I hope everyone gets the opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy some time with family and friends.

Spent a quiet moment this morning here in Pittsburgh watching a young deer wander into our backyard. She paused just long enough to nibble at the leaves on the tree, and snag a couple bites of the apples and cucumbers I tossed her way; completely unbothered, moving at her own pace, despite being covered in ticks.

It was such a simple, serene moment; nothing urgent, nothing to plan...just observing and appreciating what was right in front of me.

A gentle reminder that not everything needs to be rushed.

Sometimes, the most valuable moments are the calm ones we don’t try to control.

Bumper-to-bumper traffic on Greentree Hill yesterday morning had other plans for my commute…

Instead of fighting it, I took a detour through the West End and down W Carson St and got what I believe is the best view of the Pittsburgh skyline.

It was a good reminder: sometimes the “unexpected route” isn’t a setback, it’s an opportunity to pause, reset, and appreciate where you are.

The same idea applies to personal finances.

Markets shift. Plans get rerouted. Life throws in a few detours.

But staying calm, adjusting your path, and focusing on the bigger picture can make all the difference.
