Yes, it IS a bad time for " " at a bank or in treasuries. But zoom out... it's almost ALWAYS a terrible idea to "save" for your future in bank deposits, and fixed income. Getting paid a real rate of return above inflation for zero risk probably shouldn't be the norm. The reward for keeping your assets in a diverse portfolio with exposure to equities is real returns, and growth... but isn't free! Never has been.

In an upside-down world of financial markets, expected returns after inflation are at record lows.
