🏡 Appraisal vs. Home Inspection — what’s the difference?

They’re both important parts of the homebuying process, but they serve two very different purposes!

🔍 A home inspection is for YOU.
The inspector takes a closer look at the condition of the home — things like the roof, HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and more — so you have a better understanding of what you’re buying.

📋 An appraisal is for the LENDER.
The appraiser determines the home’s market value to help make sure the property supports the amount being financed.

An easy way to remember it:

Inspection = What condition is the home in?
Appraisal = What is the home worth?

Both can play an important role in getting you from contract to closing. 🔑🏡
