Long-term care insurance is a hedge against losing your assets to the nursing home however, I typically don’t recommend long-term care insurance anymore because it is so expensive so a few people are able to qualify with good health and be able to financially afford it and afford the ridiculously high annual rate increases. Talk to a elder law attorney near you for other avenues to avoid Medicaid estate recovery.
