Just because you’re at the right age to be able to file for a widow benefit, doesn’t mean you should file at your earliest opportunity unless you understand how the Social Security earned income limit works and the amount you’ll be giving up in a reduced benefit by drawing your benefit at age 60, which is the earliest age you could file to draw a Social Security widow benefit

You can use the money in your health savings account for over 200 qualified medical expenses if you just take money out of your health savings account and use it on a vacation it becomes taxable and if and you need to understand the penalties before you access some money in your health savings account at any age.

It’s not that your insurance won’t pay for more extensive bloodwork. It’s that the insurance company will penalize your doctor for ordering expensive bloodwork you might’ve noticed that your doctor is very stingy with lab request. That is not because your doctor doesn’t want you to have that information it’s because your doctor is trying to stay in network with the powerful insurance companies that are trying to protect their profits. That is why people that have money need to pay out-of-pocket to order their own lab results if they want to take control of their own health I understand this is a cruel reality for people that can’t afford these out-of-pocket tests but if you can, you should definitely look into it

If you wait to change your plan closer to the December 7 deadline then it’s unlikely you will have your new policy ID cards January 1. Ideally you change your plan early in the AEP which starts October 15 and runs through December 7 of each year. There’s over 200 qualified medical expenses you can use your health savings account funds for but if you use it for something that’s not named qualified such as anything cosmetic then you have a problem with the IRS!
