Be Kind to Humankind Week is an annual observance held August 25–31 that encourages people to practice kindness, compassion, and helpfulness toward others. The observance was created in the 1980s by Lorraine J. as a way to encourage people to make kindness a regular part of everyday life. The idea was simple: dedicating a week to intentional acts of kindness could inspire people to continue those behaviors throughout the year.

Each day of the week has traditionally been associated with a different kindness theme or action, such as:

-Encouraging someone who needs support
-Helping a neighbor or colleague
-Showing appreciation to people who make a difference
-Being considerate toward others
-Performing a random act of kindness
-Spreading positivity in your community

The broader message is that kindness doesn't have to involve grand gestures. A smile, a sincere thank-you, listening to someone, offering help, or including someone who feels left out can have a meaningful impact.
