Today, on National Cancer Survivors Day, we pause to honor a group of people who redefine what strength truly looks like.

Cancer survivors know battles most of us can only imagine. They have faced uncertainty, fear, pain, countless appointments, difficult decisions, and long nights filled with questions. Yet they continue to move forward with courage, resilience, and hope.

Today is about celebrating every survivor’s journey. It’s about recognizing the victories, both big and small. It’s about honoring the families, friends, caregivers, and medical professionals who stood beside them every step of the way.

At SouthShore Region Mortgage Group, we believe a home is more than four walls. It’s a place of comfort, healing, laughter, and new beginnings. That’s why stories of perseverance and determination resonate so deeply with us.

To every cancer survivor: your courage inspires us. Your strength reminds us what is possible. Your story matters.

Please join us in celebrating the survivors in your life. Today, we honor them. 💜

Less House, More Home: Why Smaller Homes Are Paying Off for Today’s Buyers

Today’s smaller single-family homes and condos have more going for them than the square footage suggests. They can give your budget some breathing room and put you in a community designed with lifestyle in mind.

Curious about the options in our area? Let's connect.

You started shopping with a specific mental image of your future home in your mind. Then the houses in your budget came in smaller than you pictured.

June 6, 1944.

Eighty-two years ago, thousands of brave young men stormed the beaches of Normandy in one of the most important military operations in world history.

Many never made it home.

Because of their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to freedom, generations of Americans have had the opportunity to pursue their dreams, raise their families, and build a better future.

Today, we pause to remember the heroes of D-Day and honor all those who served during World War II. Their legacy reminds us that freedom is never free and that ordinary people are capable of extraordinary courage when called upon.

From all of us at SouthShore Region Mortgage Group, thank you to the Greatest Generation and to every veteran who has worn our nation’s uniform.

We remember.
We honor.
We are forever grateful.

One of the biggest questions I’m getting right now is: “What’s going to happen with the housing market in the second half of the year?”

And it makes sense why everyone is asking.

Affordability is tight. Rates feel high. Prices do too.

And people want to know if the second half of the year is going to be better.

Here's the honest answer. A lot of it depends on what happens with inflation – and the lingering uncertainty overseas. But even in today’s market, there’s opportunity, if you know where to look.

Want a breakdown of what’s impacting the market, where experts think things could go from here, and what you can actually do about it?

Send a DM or drop a comment below and I can send you over an article that breaks it all down.

Some stories come full circle.

Long before the NFL became America's most popular sport, Hammond was already part of professional football history.

Back in 1920, the Hammond Pros took the field as one of the original teams that helped form what would eventually become the National Football League. While the franchise was short-lived, its place in football history remains forever.

For generations, that story became a footnote.

Today, it becomes a headline.

The Chicago Bears have officially announced their move to Hammond, Indiana.

Think about that for a moment. A city that helped give birth to professional football is once again becoming home to one of the most iconic franchises in sports.

This isn't just about football. It's about pride. It's about history.

It's about a community that has spent decades proving its resilience, its grit, and its importance to the greater Chicagoland region.

As lifelong residents of Northwest Indiana, we've always known what makes this area special. The hardworking people. The neighborhoods. The businesses. The families who proudly call the Region home.

Today, the rest of the country gets a reminder.

One hundred and six years after the Hammond Pros helped launch professional football, the NFL is coming home.

Welcome to Hammond. Welcome to Northwest Indiana.

And welcome to the next chapter of Region history.

What Rising Inflation Means for Your Move

Inflation is still above where the Fed wants it, and that means mortgage rates are likely to stay elevated for a while. But for people who need to move, strategy matters far more than trying to perfectly time the market.

Wondering what this means for your specific situation? Reach out today. Let's cut through the noise together and make a plan that actually works for you.

Data shows inflation is moving in the wrong direction. But before the headlines send anyone into a panic, here's what's actually going on, why it matters for the housing market, and what it means if you're thinking about buying or selling.

Because even though you want rates to come down, experts say this latest inflation data could actually set the stage for rates to stay “higher for longer.”

So, what can you do about it? Should you just wait?

My advice is simple. Focus on what you can control.

Even in a market like this, there are things you can do to get the best mortgage rate possible. Because sometimes you need to move no matter what’s happening – and that’s okay.

You just need the right strategy.

Let's talk about what this means for your situation and your timing. Drop a comment below or send over a message.

Because you don’t have to figure it out alone. And there are still ways to move forward.
