School zones are back and so is risk to your commercial auto exposure.
This week, thousands of buses, crossing guards, and distracted parents rejoin the roads across North Texas. For any business running vehicles β service trucks, sales fleets, or a single van β the next 30 days are statistically some of the riskiest of the year.
Three things worth doing before Friday:
1. Re-run your MVRs. Violations from the summer may not have surfaced yet. A driver you cleared in January isn't necessarily a driver you'd clear today.
2. Confirm your driver list is current. Seasonal help, new hires, and anyone using a personal vehicle for company errands should all be checked. Unlisted drivers are how a covered claim turns into a coverage dispute.
3. Put your school-zone policy in writing. This should include no phone use, reduced speed, no backing without a spotter in residential areas. One page. Signed. It matters at claim time and it matters in a deposition.
None of this costs anything. All of it shows up in your loss history, which is what your renewal price is based off of.
