Why does your home insurance company want to inspect your house? In this video, insurance agent Christina explains why home inspections can be a normal part of the homeowners insurance process.

Many insurance carriers conduct inspections when writing a new policy, and inspections can sometimes happen at renewal as well. The insurance company may be checking for potential risks or property conditions that need attention, such as excessive debris, rotting siding, roof condition, or differences between information provided about the home and its actual condition.

If your insurance company requests a home inspection, it does not necessarily mean something is wrong. It may simply be part of the carrier’s process for evaluating the property and potential risks.

Is Your Child At College This Fall? Then Check Out This Car Insurance Discount!

If your child is heading off to college this fall, you could be eligible for an auto insurance discount that many families don’t realize exists.

Some insurance companies offer a Student Away at College discount for students who attend a college more than 100 miles from home and do not take a vehicle with them. If you qualify, you may be able to reduce your auto insurance premium while still allowing your student to drive your vehicles when they’re home for breaks, such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and summer vacation. If your student later takes a vehicle to school, be sure to notify your insurance agent so your policy can be updated appropriately.
