One way to measure financial health is by comparing how much income you bring in versus how much you spend—and not just spending on everyday needs, like on gas or groceries, but specifically how much goes toward repaying debt.

When credit agencies and lenders look at this aspect of your finances, it is referred to as your debt-to-income (DTI) ratio.

So, what might a lender be looking for from your DTI ratio? How do you know if yours is in a “healthy” range?

Here’s what you need to know.

It is evident to most people that having more income and less debt is good for their finances. If you have too much debt compared to income, any shock to your income level could mean you end up with unsustainable levels of debt.

Taking your paper check to the bank to deposit or cash is still an option; however, many banks now offer mobile deposit, preferred by those who want something more flexible—especially when you have a busy week ahead.

With these advances in mobile banking, more employers are choosing to use some of the same efficiencies, collecting employees’ preferred account information and transferring funds via electronic network between banks. This “direct deposit” has become more convenient than paper checks and allows everyone involved to move (and use) their money faster.

Early direct deposit takes it one step further. Read our latest blog to learn more!

Looking for a bank in Tennessee that offers early direct deposit? See how it works, and which SouthEast Bank accounts include this feature.

🚨 Scam Alert: Fraudsters can make a phone call appear to come from SouthEast Bank, even when it does not. Never rely on caller ID alone to verify who is calling. Remember these tips to help you identify who's REALLY calling.

SouthEast Bank will never call and ask you to:

• Share, enter, or confirm your debit card PIN for any reason
• Confirm your online banking password
• Share a one-time security code, authentication code, or multi-factor authentication (MFA) code sent to your phone or email
• Move money to another account to "protect" or "secure" your funds
• Download software to your phone or computer
• Provide your full debit card number during an unsolicited call or text
• Provide sensitive account information during an unsolicited call or text message

If you receive an unsolicited phone call or text from someone claiming to work for us:

âś… If anyone asks for your PIN, password, or a one-time security code, hang up immediately and call SouthEast Bank using the number on the back of your debit card or from our official website.

âś… Hang up or delete the message promptly, as soon as something feels off

âś… Call us directly, using the number on the back of your debit card or listed on our official website

âś… Report suspicious calls or text messages to us by calling our Customer Care line or visiting our local branch

Your vigilance not only helps protect your own information, but can also help other customers who may be targeted in a similar scam.
