⛳️ Celebrating Community & Connection at the 23rd Annual Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament!

In August, Brant, Anissa, Tasha, Silvia, and Hunter Kapple represented AltCap at the 23rd Annual Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament at Shamrock Hills Golf Club in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

As a proud $1,500 Bronze-level supporter, AltCap was honored to participate in this wonderful event, host a B2B table tent, and bring a foursome led by Tasha, alongside Gabriela Ramirez, Art Armstrong, and Kevin Jones.

The tournament was a fantastic opportunity to connect with members of the Hispanic community, build meaningful relationships, and continue growing and strengthening our partnership with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ().

We are especially grateful to Interim President Helen Turley, and Board Member Ana Nubia Duin, for making us feel so welcome and included in the important work the Chamber is doing throughout the Kansas City community. We appreciate the opportunity to stand alongside an organization so committed to supporting and strengthening our local Hispanic business community.

In July, we had the opportunity to participate in The 6th Annual Summit of The Black Masterminds, hosted by , a 4-day celebration dedicated to supporting, showcasing, and elevating Black and Brown entrepreneurs and businesses.

The event brought together entrepreneurs, business owners, and community leaders from across Missouri and Kansas, along with participants from other states and countries, creating a powerful space for forging collaborative connections and exchanging ideas across communities and industries.

Highlights included a Small Business Expo, an engaging panel discussion with insights on entrepreneurship and growth, a Small Business Pitch Competition, and a celebratory Awards Gala honoring the achievements of Black and Brown entrepreneurs.

We're grateful for the meaningful connections made and proud to support an event centered on economic empowerment and community growth.

Access to capital changes what’s possible in a community. AltCap helped finance the $22 million VAC Opportunity Campus located at 1300-1304 Bowling Street in Columbia, MO, alongside Urban Action Community Development, which contributed $6 million in allocation.

VAC () has spent five decades meeting people where they are. The Opportunity Campus now gives that work a permanent home: a 150-bed emergency shelter serving roughly 500 people each year, an on-site clinic covering primary care, behavioral health, dental, and substance-use treatment, and a resource center connecting residents to case management and employment support.

Projects like this rarely pencil out through conventional financing. That’s exactly where NMTC allocation does its best work, and why we’re proud to be at the table. Congratulations to the VAC team and everyone who moved this forward.

Congratulations Community Capital Fund for being honored with a 2026 Regional Leadership Award from the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC)!

AltCap is thrilled that the organization founded by CEO Ruben Alonso and its founding Directors Margaret May, Jean-Paul Chaurand as well as former Board Chair Gary Cortes (and with the guidance of Denise St. Omer) has been recognized for its visionary leadership and community impact.

What started out as a small grant program (Neighborhoods Rising Fund), annual community convening (Community Development Workshop), and ad hoc fiscal sponsorship provider (shout out Michael Carmona for being a tireless advocate for this idea!) has blossomed into a uniquely impactful and important community stakeholder.

Kudos to Phyllis Hardwick and the amazing team at Community Capital Fund for your continued commitment to the original vision of the founders as well as the leadership and purposeful work to grow into something even bigger and more meaningful for the region!

We are proud to celebrate the groundbreaking of Provecho — Empower's expanded commercial kitchen incubator space that will include a vibrant food hall, dedicated storefront spaces for local food and retail entrepreneurs, and a community venue.

The project is part of the transformative $14M redevelopment bringing the historic NoMar Theater and nearby Plaza back to life and creating a new home for entrepreneurs in Wichita's North End.

AltCap was honored to support this milestone by providing $8M in New Markets Tax Credit facilitated financing, helping fuel economic growth where it's needed most.

Our CEO, Ruben Alonso III, joined the celebration on 8/21 and shared it best:
