31 years ago today, I became a Loan Officer.

And trust me when I tell you…this was NOT the plan. 😂

I had graduated from Texas A&M nine months earlier with an Economics degree, I was bilingual in English and Spanish, and supposedly had the whole world ahead of me.

Except I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to do with it.

I was still waiting tables at a Mexican restaurant, working double shifts and feeling completely stuck.

And then one day, something just snapped.

I knew I had to make a change.

A friend had bought a mortgage company and gave me an opportunity. I knew NOTHING about mortgages. I’m pretty sure I couldn’t even spell “mortgage” correctly. 😂

But I jumped.

No big career plan. No five-year vision. Just a feeling that I needed to take a chance on something different.

And somehow, that leap turned into a career I could never have imagined.

31 years later…

I’ve helped more than 5,000 families with their financing.

I’ve met incredible people, built lifelong friendships, coached and mentored other Loan Officers, survived more crazy mortgage markets than I can count, and learned A LOT along the way.

And the crazy part?

I’m still going.

I still love helping people.
I still love teaching.
I still love solving the deal everyone thinks can’t be solved.
And I’m still learning.

It’s funny how one decision can completely change the direction of your life.

September 11, 1995, I took a chance on a career I knew absolutely nothing about.
