"Mortgage rates are high right now”🙃

I have been hearing this lately, and I understand why.

But here’s the conversation I think is more important:
Too high compared to what?
The rate you had a few years ago? Of course. The rate your parents had decades ago? Not necessarily. The rate you might get six months from now? No one knows.

And most importantly, the decision to pursue a mortgage and buying a home should not be based on the rate alone.
Your purchase price, down payment, taxes, insurance, loan program, credit profile, and overall monthly payment all matter.
I want to have a conversation with a buyer about their actual overall numbers and their readiness to buy, then have them sit on the sidelines waiting for a rate that may, or may not, come.

Because there’s a big difference between:
“Rates are too high” and “This particular home doesn’t make sense for my budget at today’s payment.”

The first is a headline. The second is a tailored financial decision.

My job isn’t to convince you that today’s rates are the best. It’s also not to convince you that they will get better in 6 months to a year.
It’s to help you understand your options, know what your payment would actually be, and make an informed decision based on your situation.

Took a moment away from mortgages this week to help spread a little kindness 🦋

Grateful to be a part of the opportunity to surprise families with free admission to the butterfly exhibit at Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park. It does the soul good to see others smile and experience a little extra joy.
