September is Life Insurance Awareness Month.
Let’s be honest—life insurance isn’t exactly a fun topic to talk about, and none of us really want to think about why we might need it.
When I was younger, I purchased a whole life policy primarily as a way to build cash value that could serve as a non-market-correlated asset I could use to help invest down the road.
Then life happened.
Time flies, and all of a sudden, you have a wife and two little boys. Priorities change real fast.
I never want to think about not being around for my family. But if that day ever comes, I rest a little easier knowing that money won’t be something they have to worry about on top of losing someone they love.
Because the reality is, life insurance isn’t really about you.
It’s about making sure the people you leave behind have one less thing to worry about.
And if I’m going to leave this world, I’d at least like to make sure my family knows I planned ahead…
