The To***co Valley Teachers Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member owned financial co-operative. This means our credit union represents a pool of money saved by the members, under the control of the members, existing for the use of the members. Any profit made by the credit union is returned to its members through higher savings rates and lower loan rates. We are overseen by a dedicated group of educational volunteers, our Board of Directors, Credit Committee, and Supervisory Committee. 🚨📞 SCAM ALERT: Fake "Bank Fraud" Callers Are Asking People to Hand Over CASH So It Can Be Checked "FOR FINGERPRINTS"!

The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office in Colorado says this scam has already led to nearly $200,000 in recently reported thefts!

And here's what makes it so convincing: The call looks like it's coming from YOUR bank's real phone number, and the scammer may already know personal details about you and your account!

⚠️ HOW THE SCAM WORKS:

🔴 A caller claiming to be from your bank's fraud department says someone tried to get into your account.

🔴 They say they're running a "sting operation" and tell you to go to your bank and withdraw money.

🔴 They may tell you NOT to tell the bank teller why, claiming bank employees could be "in on it."

🔴 Then they ask you to package up the cash (or your debit card), and an "agent" comes to your home to pick it up, supposedly to check the money for fingerprints.

In at least one case, the scammers called the same victim back on later days and asked for MORE money!

✅ HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF:

✅ A real bank will NEVER ask you to withdraw cash, buy gift cards or move money to help with an investigation.

✅ If a caller tells you to keep a withdrawal secret from tellers or family, it's a SCAM.

✅ Hang up and call the number on the back of your debit or credit card, or go to your bank in person.

PLEASE SHARE THIS with your parents and grandparents! These scammers are targeting people who are just trying to protect their money.
