Rush or priority appraisal fees can’t be passed on to the Veteran. If a deal needs to move faster, that cost has to be handled between the lender and the appraiser, and it must be initiated by the lender, not the appraiser.

What this means in practice:
If your buyer is using a VA loan and there’s a tight timeline, they’re still protected from extra “rush” charges. That keeps costs more predictable and avoids last-minute surprises at closing.

For agents, this is important when setting expectations on timelines. If you know a file may need to move quickly, loop your lender in early so they can coordinate properly.

VA continues to focus on protecting Veterans from unnecessary fees, and this is another example of that.
