Labor Day is almost here, and our team at The Maggard Insurance Group is ready to take a well-earned breather. We work hard all year to support our clients across Cheyenne and Laramie County with home, auto, life, and business insurance — so a long weekend is definitely on the agenda.

As families across Cheyenne and Laramie County get back into school routines, our team at The Maggard Insurance Group wants to help everyone start the year safely. No matter how your students get to school, a few quick reminders can make a big difference.

Walking to school:
• Use sidewalks when available
• Cross only at marked crosswalks
• Make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the street
• Walk with a group when possible

Riding a bike:
• Wear a properly fitted helmet every time
• Ride on the right side of the road with traffic
• Stop fully before crossing
• Choose routes with lighter traffic when you can

Taking the bus:
• Stand several feet back from the curb
• Wait for the bus to stop completely before boarding
• Avoid crossing in front of or behind the bus unless the driver sees you

Getting dropped off:
• Follow school zone speed limits
• Stick to your school’s drop-off procedure
• Never pass a bus that’s loading or unloading

Teen drivers:
• Review seatbelt rules
• Keep devices put away
• Follow posted speed limits
