What's happening: The conflict with Iran heated up again over the weekend, pushing oil prices up 3% late Sunday.

Why this matters: The longer the conflict lasts, the worse it is for mortgage rates. If the conflict lasts past the midterms and if the economic data stays firm, then Fed members will be talking about more than one rate hike; they will be guiding the market to multiple rate hikes.
