Part D change: some companies decided to cut brokers out of Part D — they won't pay us.

That's unfortunate, because Part D is one of the most confusing parts of Medicare. When you have a problem with your prescription drug plan, who's your advocate?

Don't buy the car for the cup holder. 🚗

Extras like over-the-counter credits ($45–$100 a quarter) are nice. But first: Are your doctors in network? Are your medications covered? If you switch for the giveaways and end up paying more for your meds, that's not a win.

How do you do it? Go see your doctor and ask, "Do I qualify for the bridge program?" The doctor confirms your BMI. Your doctor has to fill out that bridge form and ask for approval through Medicare. Once you get that approval letter, you should be good until December of 2027. You pay $50, you fill up once a month.

Who does not qualify? If you already have type two diabetes, that falls under a different plan and you have to pay the normal Part D pricing. If you're already getting it at a discounted rate, it's probably not for you. It's not everybody on Medicare gets it for $50 a month. You have to qualify.

Real example — my mom.

Mid-70s, very healthy, on Plan F for years and getting hit with rate increases. She was paying about $400 a month on top of her Part B.

Education is power.

When people get close to 65, Medicare overwhelms them. So they either do nothing, make rash decisions, or copy their friends — who aren't in the same financial or health situation.
