Alabama Goes to College has three components:
1.

Alabama Goes to College equips Alabamians with tools and relationships so that every student can plan for, pursue, and complete valuable postsecondary credentials. Alabama College Application Week, which is part of a national effort to increase the number of first-generation college students and students from low-income families pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential;
2. Cash for College, which seeks for every graduating senior to complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) before they graduate from high school so that they can access federal, state, and institution aid to pay for their education after high school; and
3. Alabama College and Career Decision Day, which celebrates students committing to pursue their education past high school, whether to obtain a two-year degree, a four-year degree, a certificate or industry-recognized credential, entering the military, or pursuing a skilled trade.

🎓 IT'S OFFICIAL! OCTOBER IS ALABAMA GOES TO COLLEGE MONTH! 🎉

Governor Kay Ivey officially proclaimed October 2026 as Alabama Goes to College Month, recognizing the importance of supporting Alabama students in taking the next step toward their futures!

At Alabama Possible, we believe every student deserves access to opportunities that lead to a brighter future. This month-long recognition shines a spotlight on two critical steps in the postsecondary journey: completing the FAFSA and applying to college.

💙 This proclamation was made even more meaningful by the presence of Annie Mathis, school counselor at Loveless Academic Magnet Program High School, and students Jalek Webb and Taylor Pettway. Their participation reminds us that students are at the heart of everything we do!

We extend our sincere appreciation to Alabama Possible board members Mark Dixon, Glyn Agnew, and Monica Motley for joining us and for their continued leadership and commitment to expanding postsecondary opportunities across our state.

Thank you to Governor Kay Ivey and the Office of the Governor for recognizing the importance of college access and the role education plays in strengthening Alabama's future.

📣 To every Alabama high school senior: This is YOUR month! Complete your and Match profile, explore your college options, submit your applications, and take that next step toward your future. We're here to help you along the way!
