Seven Sisters was honored to work with NeighborWorks America, National American Indian Housing Council, and Oweesta Corporation to bring together stakeholders to strategize at the Housing Our Relatives Summit in Anchorage, Alaska. There was storytelling, movement, and connection. We left Anchorage inspired and ready to move forward with Native-led solutions and next steps. Thank you Mellor Willie for inviting us on this journey.

Congratulations to White Earth Tribal Public Health for achieving national accreditation! Since 2018, Noorie Brantmeier has been honored to support White Earth Nation Tribal Public Health on its journey to accreditation. This milestone reflects years of steady planning, partnership, and a shared commitment to collective well-being.

Public health accreditation is about strengthening systems, accountability, and sustainability โ€” but at its heart, itโ€™s about caring for the community and investing in long-term wellness.

A few weeks ago, The Indigo Girls invited Seven Sisters' Songbird Vickie Oldman, Board Chair of First Peoples Fund, to give a land acknowledgement at their Albuquerque (Laguna Pueblo) show.

"We want to thank [the Laguna Pueblo people] for taking care of the land for so, so many years, and continuing to remind us how we need to be careful, how we need to be generous, how we need to be mindful about ourselves and how we walk on her...We believe in the cultural and collective spirit - and what that really means is when we feel like we lift one artist, we lift the whole collective."

In the midst of growing economic uncertainty and budget cuts to vital tribal programs, the work of the South Dakota Native Homeownership Coalition (SDNHOC) has never been more urgent. Together, as Coalition members and allies, you are helping to dismantle longstanding barriers to Native homeownership, create powerful opportunities for Native individuals and families, and protect the economic sovereignty and self-determination of our Native nations. This work is transformative, and we are deeply grateful for your continued commitment to the Coalitionโ€™s mission.

Today, SDNHOC continues its own exciting transformationโ€”from a more informal coalition to a strong, independent Native-led nonprofit organization. As a Board, we remain focused on building long-term resilience and sustainability, including identifying the right leader to guide our next chapter...

The Seven Sisters team has been busy learning, reconnecting, and holding space over the last few weeks. Joanna, Noorie, and Morgan attended The Oweesta Corporation Capital Access Convening in Waikoloa, Hawaii, where Joanna co-facilitated a session on liquidity solutions that offer reasonable interest rates and terms, highlighting the Native Impact Fund (NIF). Then, Joanna traveled to Los Angeles for The National American Indian Housing Council Annual Convention and Tradeshow. In early June, Morgan, Barb, and Vickie facilitated site visits to Lummi and Muckleshoot for the Washington Coastal Tribal Housing Leaders Cohort, and snuck in a bonus trip to say hi to our friends at Pacific Northwest Tribal Lending.
