Insuring homes to the correct values are never easy. With the cost of everything rising rapidly, sometimes clients want to try and cut corners when it comes to their home insurance. Why would you ever think to do this? Your home is the most valuable asset you have.

Metaphorically speaking, what is the difference? You see, when you shop for insurance, there are differences. Sometimes in just the little ways words are placed and coverages are added or deleted.

Know the difference. It matters at the time of a claim.

It's that time of year again. Wedding season that is.

You don't have to live in flood zone to need Flood Insurance. In fact, 1 inch of water can cause over $25,000 worth of damage to your house.

If you own a home, Flood Insurance is something you should take a look at. It is not as expensive as you think and remember, flooding is NOT covered under your homeowners policy.

Do you see this? Ice coming off a roof that has frozen. This is bad.,real bad. Here's the bigger problem. If you park your car under a building like this and the ice finally drops off and damages your car, who do you think is going to pay for it? Yeah, it's you, not the building owner. Don't believe it, try submitting a claim.

We actually had this happen with one of our dear insureds yesterday. He parked at a small shopping center where he worked and the ice fell off the roof and broke his windshield. He thought of finding out who insured the building first and he did. Then called that agent to inquire. Of course, no response as we would expect considering the company who is insuring the building. He then calls us so frustrated and then we have to give him the bad news. His insurance will pay for it under the comprehensive portion of his auto policy but it is a claim against him. Needless to say the wonderful man is so upset with the whole situation.

So, the point of all of this. Please take notice where you are parking with all the ice and snow and be very mindful of what can fall on your vehicle. A very tough lesson to learn.

We hope this helps save you and someone who reads this from the same heartache. If you carry comprehensive coverage on your auto policy and that vehicle gets damages from the ice, you may be covered minus any deductible. Without it, you are paying for the damages out of your pocket.
