🇺🇸 Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸
250 years ago, our country declared that freedom was worth fighting for.
One of the greatest freedoms we often take for granted today? The opportunity to own a home.
Did you know…
🏡 Before the 1930s, buying a home in America looked completely different. Most mortgages required large down payments (often 40–50%) and had terms of only 3–10 years, ending with a huge balloon payment.
Everything changed in 1934, when the federal government created the FHA. That helped pave the way for the long-term, fully amortizing mortgage—and eventually the 30-year fixed-rate loan that millions of Americans rely on today.
Here’s what makes the U.S. different from much of the world:
🇺🇸 We have one of the most consumer-friendly mortgage systems anywhere.
✔️ 30-year fixed-rate mortgages that lock in your payment for decades.
✔️ The ability to refinance when rates improve.
✔️ Low down payment options—as little as 0%, 3%, or 3.5% depending on the program.
✔️ Loan programs designed specifically for veterans, first-time buyers, rural communities, and more.
✔️ No universal requirement to pay off your mortgage in just 5–10 years like borrowers commonly face in many other countries.
Homeownership has long been one of the greatest tools for building generational wealth. While no system is perfect, America has created financing opportunities that have helped millions of families purchase homes who otherwise never could have.
As we celebrate 250 years of independence, I’m grateful to help people achieve a piece of the American Dream every day.
Happy Independence Day—and Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙
