At Atlas Theatre Company CIC, we're gathering stories from across Sunderland to help shape our upcoming community production, Wear in Wonderland! 🎭✨

We're particularly interested in hearing from local runners about why you choose to run where you do.

Every route has a story, and we'd love to hear yours!

Our production celebrates the people, places and stories that make Sunderland what it is, and your memories could help bring a little piece of our city to the stage.

Holly and Kerri had a great session as part of a week long team build delivered by Sunderland Experience for Nissan...involving a unique selection of experiences delivered by Sunderland organisations

Our session explored the concept of ‘Narrative’ … what is a narrative, and how does it extend beyond simply telling a story to become something that shapes how we understand and navigate the world around us?

Through creative exercises and discussion, we explored how conflicting narratives can influence disagreements, how different perspectives shape our understanding of situations, and how narrative can be used as a diagnostic tool to identify challenges and explore solutions.

It was wonderful to see the teams grow in confidence, embrace their creativity and challenge themselves to think in new ways!

A BIG ATLAS WELCOME TO LILLIE & BETH!

We're absolutely delighted to welcome two brilliant student placements from the University of Sunderland to the Atlas Theatre Company CIC team!

Both students will be playing an exciting role in the development of our upcoming community production, Wear in Wonderland!

✍️ Meet Lillie – Creative Writing Student

Lillie will be taking on the exciting challenge of bringing together the stories, memories and ideas shared by our wonderful Sunderland community, weaving them into an original script for Wear in Wonderland. A story shaped by the people of our city, for the people of our city!

📸 Meet Beth – Photography Student

Beth will be using her creative eye to document the journey behind the script, capturing the people, places and conversations that inspire the writing. Her photography will help us tell the story behind the story, celebrating the community voices and creative process that bring this production to life!

At Atlas, we're passionate about creating opportunities for emerging creatives to develop their skills, gain meaningful industry experience and contribute to projects that make a real difference.

We're incredibly proud to continue building our relationship with the University of Sunderland, connecting the next generation of creative talent with the communities around them.

Because Wear in Wonderland is about so much more than a performance. It's about community, collaboration and celebrating the stories that make Sunderland the city we love!

A huge and heartfelt thank you to our Atlas Community Company members who generously volunteered their time at yesterday’s Look for a Book event! 📚👀

Events like these are such a beautiful reminder of the power of community, bringing people together through creativity, storytelling and shared experiences.

We are incredibly greatful to our Community Company members, who not only give their time to performing but also wholeheartedly embrace opportunities to make a positive difference across our city.

It is these moments of connection, kindness and community spirit that make events like yesterday so meaningful.
