Not all tea is created equal. Behind every cup is a story about the people who grow it, the leaves they pick and the choices made between garden and kettle.
Tea is often judged by its price, its packaging, or the claims printed on the box but we think it's worth asking two questions. What is really in your cup? And who truly benefits from it?
In the UK, tea is one of the most under-valued grocery items you can find. When you consider the long-term planning and care of tea bushes, the backbreaking work that goes into picking and processing, and all the costs of transport, packaging and shareholder margins, it's likely that there is only one group losing out: the growers with the least power.
We believe exceptional tea starts with quality leaves, carefully grown and treated with respect. And we believe responsible sourcing should go beyond good intentions or a certification mark; it should help create meaningful, lasting value for the people who grow our tea.
