🏥 A little Tembo update for today

I’m in hospital today for a planned procedure, so I’ll be uncontactable for most of the day.

The Tembo team are still out doing what they do best 💚, but messages, enquiries and admin may take me a little longer than usual to respond to over the next few days while I recover.

From clearance to ready for its next chapter 🏠✨

After supporting with the clearance of a property following an unattended death, our work continued with the final clean.

This reel shows just a small part of that process — a heavily carbonised oven cleaned and dismantled where needed, and the chest freezer emptied, defrosted and cleaned.

It’s about making sure the home is properly emptied, cleaned and left ready for decorating, preparing it for sale and helping those responsible for the property move things forward.

Sensitive situations need more than just a cleaning company. They need patience, discretion and a practical pair of hands to see the job through.

👑 A rather special arrival in Romsey today… while Team Tembo were just down the road working!

We could hear the band playing while we were working and knew something rather special was happening just down the road at Romsey Abbey — the unveiling of the new statue of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Sadly, Team Tembo couldn’t pop down to see it because we were busy completing a job… although being able to hear the celebrations from where we were working was rather lovely. 💚

Days like today are another reminder of just how much we love where we work. Romsey is a pretty special place to call our home patch.

We’ll definitely be popping down to see her properly soon. 👑

Cash in bin bags. ID in a pillow. Gold half sovereign in a laundry basket. Bank cards in a cigarette box…

Across a number of property clearances we’ve completed this year, we’ve found some surprisingly important things hidden amongst everyday belongings.

We’ve recovered credit and bank cards from an old cigarette box, found cash tucked in piles of bags, discovered ID hidden inside a pillow, found a very important Will and uncovered hundreds of collectables some mixed in with bags containing food that had long since spoiled.

We’ve also found jewellery, sterling silver, a gold half sovereign, gift cards, historic newspapers and thousands of stamps, which have now gone on to support the RNLI.

That’s why we don’t believe in simply filling a skip and walking away.

A proper clearance means taking the time to work out what should be kept, returned, sold, donated, recycled or genuinely disposed of.

Because hidden amongst years of belongings can be things with financial, sentimental, practical or historical value.

A clearance isn’t always the end of the job.

We’re currently completing the final clean of a property following a hoarding clearance and an unattended death.

Once the belongings and waste have been removed, there is often another layer of work that isn’t immediately obvious.

Cupboard tops.
Inside units.
Behind doors and hinges.
Light fittings.
Grease, staining, dust and organic build-up in areas that may not have been accessible for years.

Some jobs require more than cleaning.

Today we worked alongside Chris after he gained access to a property that had been sealed following an unattended death.

Once access had been gained, our role was to safely decontaminate the property, protect everyone involved, and begin resetting the home with dignity, compassion and professionalism.

These are the jobs most people never see—but they’re some of the most important work we do.
