Didn’t go away on a trip over the summer? Don’t worry! 🙏🏻

Autumn is when these six destinations actually show their best side with quieter streets, softer light and most importantly, none of the summer rush!

🇵🇹 Aveiro, Portugal — known as Portugal’s answer to Venice, with colourful moliceiro boats drifting through its canals. Far fewer visitors than Lisbon or Porto.

🇫🇷 Annecy, France — an alpine lake so clear it’s nicknamed one of Europe’s cleanest, ringed by mountains that turn gold through October.

🇪🇸 Ronda, Spain — a town literally split by a 120m gorge, with a stone bridge (Puente Nuevo) connecting the two halves. A short drive from the Costa del Sol, worlds away from it.

🇵🇹 Óbidos, Portugal — a walled medieval town you can walk across in 15 minutes, with a full castle still intact at one end.

🇫🇷 Èze, France — a clifftop medieval village on the French Riviera with sweeping Mediterranean views, minus the yacht-set crowds of Nice or Monaco.

🇪🇸 Cadaqués, Spain — the whitewashed fishing town that inspired Salvador Dalí. Peaceful and largely tourist-free once summer ends.

San Sebastián has more Michelin stars per capita than any other city in the world, but still gets overlooked in favour of Barcelona and the Costas 😮🍽️

📍 What to see and do:

La Co**ha Beach – one of Europe’s most photographed city beaches, still warm enough to swim through September

Parte Vieja (Old Town) – pintxos bar-hopping through the cobbled streets; order by pointing at what’s on the counter

Monte Igueldo – funicular up for sunset views over the whole bay

Playa de Ondarreta – quieter neighbouring beach if La Co**ha gets busy

Michelin-starred dining if you want to push the boat out, or just stick to pintxos crawls (both are equally “”doing it right”” here 😅)

Wherever you end up next, it’s always worth having the right cover sorted before you go ✈️

There’s a reason Frigiliana keeps making lists of Spain’s most beautiful villages 🤍🇪🇸

Tucked into the hills of Málaga, this whitewashed village is known for its narrow cobbled streets, colourful doors, flower-filled balconies and views stretching towards the coast.

It’s the kind of place you can spend a few hours simply wandering, stopping for a coffee or lunch along the way and getting a little lost in the old town.

📍 Frigiliana, Málaga

When travelling from Spain or the EU, your passport doesn’t just need to be valid for travel — many countries also require it to be valid for at least 3–6 months beyond your arrival date 📅 🛂

This rule varies depending on your destination, and airlines can refuse boarding if it isn’t met, even if your ticket is valid.

Checking passport validity early can prevent last-minute disruptions and unnecessary stress before your trip.

Two of Europe’s most unique capital cities - both perfect for a summer city break, but in very different ways… 👀

Reykjavik is surrounded by raw natural beauty: volcanoes, waterfalls, geothermal lagoons, and long summer days thanks to the midnight sun 🇮🇸

Copenhagen is stylish and relaxed, with canals, colourful harbours, cycling culture, and a strong focus on outdoor living in the warmer months 🇩🇰

There’s something about that first walk after checking into a hotel… 🥹☀️

Bags dropped, holiday officially started, and now the only important decision is where to find that first bite to eat 🍽️🇪🇸

What’s your first holiday meal: tapas, seafood or “let’s just see what looks good”? 👀

August in Sardinia is peak Mediterranean beauty - crystal-clear waters, dramatic coastlines, and some of the most photographed beaches in Europe… but also peak season, so timing and planning matter 🇮🇹☀️

The north (Costa Smeralda) is where you’ll find luxury beaches, yacht-filled harbours, and iconic turquoise water. The northwest around Alghero blends history, old town charm, and hidden coves. Meanwhile, the south around Cagliari feels more local, more relaxed, and often better value.

Top things to do:

- Swim at La Pelosa Beach (Stintino)
- Boat trip through La Maddalena islands
- Hike to Cala Goloritzé (one of Italy’s most stunning beaches)
- Explore the old town of Alghero
- Sunset dinner in Bosa’s colourful riverside streets

When it comes to travel insurance, what often matters most isn’t just what’s covered, but what you can prove 📋✅

Most claims require clear documentation such as receipts, medical reports, or official records to be processed successfully.

Keeping these organised while you travel makes the claims process much smoother if you ever need to use your insurance.
