I’ve spent the last week in Spain helping my parents through the wildfire near their home, and it’s hard to put into words the devastation it’s caused. Homes lost, livelihoods destroyed — and heartbreakingly, lives too.
Seeing it first‑hand is something I’ll never forget.

Then, while all this was happening, hearing about the wildfires back home in the UK was just awful. It’s frightening how quickly life can change, and how these things feel “far away” until they’re suddenly on your doorstep.
Moments like these make you pause. They remind you how important it is to have the right protection in place — not just solid home insurance, but cover that supports you if you’re injured or unable to work. These aren’t easy conversations, but they matter.

I also want to give a gentle nudge to check your own policies — not out of fear, just awareness. Look at your excess, what’s actually included, and what might be missing. Cheaper policies often only cover the basics, and when something serious happens — fire, flood, storm damage — it’s the “extras” that make the biggest difference.
