An early start, but one well worth it.

Recently, our specialist team member, Quinton, joined the inaugural Haven Knox-Johnston Specialist x Smart Fishing UK expedition, which was filmed as part of an upcoming documentary on the return of Blue Fin Tuna into UK waters.

As insurers of this incredible fishing vessel, we produced a bespoke Haven Knox-Johnston Specialist boat decal which proudly took its place onboard for the adventure.

Departing before dawn, the expedition showcased the skill, dedication and conservation-led approach of the sport fishing community. One of the highlights was witnessing a magnificent bluefin tuna before its safe release back into the water as part of responsible catch-and-release fishing practices.

We're proud to support the communities, passions and experiences that make the marine world so unique, and it was fantastic to see the HJKS brand out on the water for such a memorable occasion.

📖 What makes it into your logbook?

During his 1,780-mile circumnavigation of the UK, Richard Brocklesby's logbook became a record of far more than simply positions and passage times.

This entry was made following a particularly eventful night at Lundy, when a change in wind left his anchor stuck in rocks and his boat uncomfortably close to danger. The notes capture everything from the changing conditions and anchor trouble to engine use, course changes and positions as Richard continued towards Oxwich Bay.

It got us thinking, how much detail do you record in your own logbook? ⚓

1,780 miles. 104 days. 50 ports of call. One incredible journey.

Richard is home! 🎉

After 104 days at sea, Richard has completed his solo circumnavigation of the UK in support of Parkinson’s UK.

It’s been quite the adventure:

🌊 1,780 miles travelled
⚓ 50 ports of call
⛽ 292 engine hours and 359 litres of diesel
🤢 Only one day of seasickness!
💚 £9,255 raised online from 160 incredible donors

From breakdowns and challenging weather to peaceful anchorages, new friendships and some unforgettable moments at sea, we’ve loved following Richard’s journey around the UK.

Most importantly, every mile has helped raise funds and awareness for a cause that means so much to Richard.
