#2. Best Health Insurance Adviser (An award for individual advisers) – Luc Genest, Advo Group

Fantastic achievement once again to a highly talented group of individuals.

We give special mention to Luc Genest who this year is a finalist again in 2024 after last year winning the ‘Best Newcomer’ award. Also, we must give a ‘shout out’ to Joseph Foord for continuing advo’s tradition as finalists in the Newcomer category, it’s testament to his manager, Simon Friday’s ability to shape and create outstanding advisers. A special mention too to Jenny Durling, the manager of the Employee Benefit’s support team, who through their specialist and precise work in supporting clients day-to-day help make the advisors look good in front of their clients.

Last year saw advo achieve incredible success winning multiple categories including the overall accolade as the UK’s Advisory Firm of the Year.

The winners are revealed at a ‘Black-Tie event in October at London Hilton Park Lane.

With World Health Day earlier this month on her mind, Ellie Sultana, advo’s Employee Benefits manager has outlined her thoughts on how organisations can prioritise employee wellbeing via the staff benefits that are already in place.
‘Elevate Your Employee Benefits’ Experience’

World Health Day was the April 7th this year and so with the new tax year and for many organisations a new trading year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how we can prioritise employee wellbeing via the benefits you already have in place and/or are looking to offer to your staff. Through advo.....

It’s No April Fool!... advo’s Head of HR, Alison Gill, highlights an anomaly that will impact businesses that run staff holiday entitlement in line with the tax year. The law around holiday states that you must provide a minimum 5.6 working weeks’ leave each year. This is 28 days including bank / public holiday for full -time employees. This year, Good Friday falls on 29th March 2024 so this would be included in the current 2023 / 2024 bank holidays. This means that next year, 1 April 2024 – 31 March 2025, there will be only seven bank holidays. So, what does this mean?

Some businesses have a holiday year for their employees which run from 1st April – 31st March and this year is a ‘Double Easter’. If you recognise bank holidays as fixed holidays for your employees, i.e. employees are not required to work on a bank holiday, the timing of Easter this year, mean...

With today being International Woman’s Day, I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate our management team. At advo we certainly buck the financial industry trends.

Recruiting whenever we can from within, some of our most senior people joined us at very junior positions & have come up through the ranks.

Looking at our Leadership and Management within advo, out of 14 senior oversight roles, 10 are women, over 70%. This is not by design, but through natural selection of the best candidates. I believe the scope, ability, knowledge and capabilities within our management team are second to none. You guys are simply bloody marvellous!

Employee Appreciation Day at the beginning of this month was a great time to recognise the hard work and dedication of employees behind the success of our businesses. But don’t forget it should last all year, every year, not just one day!

advo’s Employee Benefit Manager, Ellie Sultana, takes a look at how a well-balanced staff benefit’s package plays a pivotal part.

“At advo, we understand the importance of valuing our employees everyday and aim to allow our clients to do the same too. We this by providing advice and ongoing guidance to build and manage comprehensive benefits packages for employees and assist with supporting the promotion and engagement to ensure your employees understand and value the ‘benefit spend’ you make.” …

I surprised some of the EB team earlier today when wandering around the offices. In our hybrid working world I believe it’s the face-to-face interaction that creates the innovation, strategy and ultimately best results. advo fully embraces hybrid working, the ability for employees to choose their best way of being their most productive, but all enjoy those times when we all come together. Its moments like this that maintain and strengthen a company’s culture.
