💷 Could you be paying more tax than you need to?

Last week's feature presentation at Business Connect was delivered by Darren Hopkins from Richstone Park Financial Planning, who gave us an insight into how the right financial advice can help people make more of their money.

Darren shared examples of recent client cases, demonstrating how effective financial planning can help people save money, make better use of their pensions and plan ahead for inheritance tax.

One of the biggest takeaways was just how important it is to regularly review your financial arrangements. From pensions to tax-efficient planning, there may be opportunities that people simply aren't aware of.

As an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA), Darren isn't tied to one provider. He can consider options from across the market to find solutions suited to each client's individual circumstances.

Darren is particularly keen to connect with accountants, where working together can help clients benefit from joined-up financial and tax planning.

🎨 There's more to decorating than just picking up a paintbrush!

Last week's feature presentation at Business Connect was delivered by Alfy Adams from Decorate & Renovate, who showed us why a great finish starts long before the first coat of paint.

With years of experience building houses before moving into decorating, Alfy understands what's going on beneath the surface – and why getting the foundations right is so important.

🎬 Lights, camera, action at BNI Business Connect!

Last week's feature presentation was delivered by Steve Friendship from Large Scale Film, who gave us a fantastic insight into the world of professional video production.

Steve shared examples of his work, demonstrating how creative filming techniques, from drone and 360° footage to time-lapse videos showing projects transform over time, can bring a story to life.

But it isn't just about impressive camera work. One of Steve's biggest strengths is his personable approach, working closely with people to capture their stories and showcase what makes their businesses special.

We also explored how video is evolving for social media, with different formats, subtitles and creative approaches helping businesses get their message across.

From housebuilders and hotels to schools, universities, charities and local councils, Steve works with a wide range of organisations to create engaging video content.

📜 Last week's feature presentation at BNI Business Connect was delivered by Mary Morgan from Beacon Advice, answering some of the common questions around wills and estate planning.

One of the biggest takeaways was just how much more there is to writing a will than many of us might think.

Mary explained why an off-the-shelf will isn't always enough. Everyone's circumstances and wishes are different, and having a will properly tailored to you helps make sure those wishes are understood and followed when the time comes.

It was a really useful reminder that something so important shouldn't necessarily be treated as a simple tick-box exercise.

And if you already have a will, it's worth making sure it still reflects what you want. Mary offers a free will review, giving you the opportunity to check that your existing arrangements are still right for you.

Her referral ask is simple: anyone who doesn't currently have a will – or perhaps has one they've not looked at for quite some time.
