East Kilbride Credit Union We’re an award-winning, ethical credit union dedicated to supporting our community. We have been providing first class financial services for over 30 years.

We provide affordable loans, savings accounts, and junior savings to help our members build a better financial future. East Kilbride Credit Union Ltd is an ethical financial co-operative owned and run by its members who save together and have access to affordable credit. The credit union is run by members for members and over 10,000 residents have already made use of our services. We also have a t

hriving junior membership, with almost 600 youngsters making excellent use of our savings facilities. The credit union is controlled by a Board of Directors elected from the membership and is run on a day-to-day basis by the manager and a dedicated and talented team of staff and volunteers. Like the banks, we are also authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority. and are part of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme that guarantees up to £75,000 of individual saving in the event that the credit union is unable to meet its financial obligations.

Banks. Credit cards.m Buy Now Pay Later. Online lenders. And probably another 47 adverts waiting for you on Facebook. 😅

But there's another option. Your local credit union.

So forget £1,000. Let's aim for your first £100.

£10 at a time. £20 on payday. A wee bit extra when you can.

That £100 might not solve every emergency.

But it's £100 between you and the credit card when the tyre needs replaced, the washing machine packs in or life decides to be expensive.

First £10. Then £50. Then £100.

Small savings become useful savings.

👋 MEET STACY

Every team needs a newbie. ✨

Stacy joined EKCU just three months ago as part of our Member Services team — and thankfully, so far so good. 😂 If you've phoned us recently, there's a fair chance you've already spoken to her.

She's friendly, loves a good chit-chat and is quickly learning that working in a Credit Union involves considerably more variety than you might expect. She's still working through her training, but that's all part of it.

One minute you're helping a member with a query. The next you're learning something completely new. And that's actually one of the things Stacy likes most about the job. She joined EKCU because she liked the idea of the team spirit, variety and being somewhere that genuinely helps people.

Although there was already a funny little EKCU connection... Stacy actually grew up next door to one of our long-standing directors and volunteers. East Kilbride really is a small world. 😂

And there's one other thing we've learned very quickly:
If Stacy is nearby... A can of Pepsi Max probably isn't far away. 🥤👀

You paid everybody. Did you pay yourself? 👀

Try treating your savings like another bill. Payday arrives → something goes into savings. Even if it's small.

Don't wait until the end of the month and save "whatever is left". Because somehow...there's never very much left. 😂

👋 MEET LINDA

If your circumstances change and keeping up with things suddenly becomes a little harder, Linda is one of the people you might speak to.

As our Payment Support Officer, Linda works with members whose circumstances may have changed, helping them understand their position, keep things on track where possible and, importantly, providing a listening ear.

Because behind an account number is a person. And sometimes life doesn't go according to plan. That's something we never want to lose sight of at EKCU. 💙

After many years as part of the team, Linda will sadly be leaving us for a very well-earned retirement in December — although we're not quite ready to talk about that yet. 🥹

Until then, you'll find her doing what she does best... Helping members. Talking about her beloved dog. And almost certainly with a coffee somewhere nearby. ☕🐶

Technically?

Nothing… until the day you need it.

Then suddenly that £10 here and £20 there becomes:
💙 breathing room
💙 options
💙 one less thing to panic about

You don't need hundreds of pounds before saving becomes worthwhile.

You just need to start.

Because sometimes the real value of savings isn't the balance showing on your app.

It's knowing you've got something there when life happens.
