Helping young people build good money habits from day one!

Earlier this week, we were delighted to visit the team at Qualifications Scotland to deliver a money management workshop for a group of young apprentices who have recently started their working lives.
Starting your first job is an exciting time, but it can also bring new financial responsibilities. Our workshop covered some important topics to help the apprentices make confident financial decisions, including:

💷 Managing money and creating a budget
📊 Understanding credit scores
💳 Using credit responsibly
⚠️ Recognising the potential pitfalls of debt

We hope the apprentices took away some valuable lessons that will help them build good financial habits and strengthen their financial wellbeing as they begin their careers.

At Glasgow Credit Union, we believe that financial wellbeing starts with having the knowledge and confidence to make informed choices about your money.

A new chapter in our Board leadership

We’re pleased to announce important leadership changes at Glasgow Credit Union in line with our succession plan.

Following the recent Board meeting, Sean Connor has stepped down as Chair, a role he has held since 2025. Sean has helped to guide our Credit Union through a period of change, strengthening governance and supporting our continued financial sustainability.

We’re delighted that Sean will continue to serve as a Board Director until the conclusion of his current term in December 2026.

We would like to thank Sean for his leadership, dedication and commitment to Glasgow Credit Union.

We’re also delighted to announce that Maggie Craig has been appointed as our first female Chair.

Maggie is the current Board Vice Chair and has extensive experience in various other Non-Executive Director roles. Maggie brings extensive financial services experience and was a former Head of Department at the FCA.

Congratulations Maggie, and best wishes in your new role! 🎉
