⏰ There's only 1 week to go until the deadline for proposal submissions. To help you plan your time, here’s a checklist of everything you will need to do before hitting that ‘submit’ button.

✅ Check your IATEFL membership:
In order to submit a proposal, you must be a paid member of IATEFL, this is different from having an IATEFL account. To check your membership status, login to your IATEFL Dashboard at www.iatefl.org and click the "My Membership" option on the left-hand side.
Don't have an active membership? Click on "Join IATEFL or renew membership", complete the form and make your payment. For most membership types, once payment reaches us your membership will be automatically activated. However, we do need to verify Student and Early Career Teaching memberships so please allow up to 2 working days for this process to take place.

💡 Check your idea:
Have you run your session idea past a colleague or two? You need to make sure it’s a session that people are going to want to attend and that your ideas are new and can be applied to multiple contexts.

📰 Read the Speaker Proposal Guidelines:
The guidelines can be downloaded from www.iateflconference.org/about-the-conference/speaker-information and they are designed to help lead you through the whole process of submitting your proposal. As well as setting out some general rules, they will take you step-by-step through the proposal form. If anything in the guidelines isn’t clear to you, please email our Conference Programme Coordinator, Sarah Ward, at [email protected].

⌨️ Draft your proposal:
Using the information from the guidelines, draft a version of these to share with some friends or colleagues, perhaps the same ones that helped you develop your idea. They can help you spot any typos and edit your proposal to make it the best it can be.

🖱️ Submit your proposal:
On your IATEFL Dashboard, click on ‘Conference proposals’. Using the guidelines, work your way through the form. At the end you can choose to save your proposal as a draft, or submit your proposal. Please note, any proposals still in draft form at the deadline will not be sent for consideration.

⏱️ One final tip:
Do not leave all of this until the last minute and remember, the deadline for proposal submissions is 4pm (UK time) Wednesday 9 September 2026.

We look forward to receiving your proposal!
