Think you'd need a huge deposit to buy a home and rent it out while you're serving? 🤔 🏡

Normally, buying a property that you're going to rent out means looking at a buy-to-let mortgage.

And that will often mean finding a much bigger deposit — commonly 20% or more.

But military life can create a different situation 🙏

Some lenders understand that you may be living in military accommodation while wanting to buy a home of your own for the future.

Because of that, there are circumstances where a serving person may be able to buy using one of the lender's normal residential mortgage deals, even though the property will initially be rented out.

That can potentially mean a much smaller deposit — in some cases as little as 5% — as well as access to the lender's normal residential mortgage deals.

That's very different from simply getting a buy-to-let mortgage.

There are conditions and it won't be suitable or available for everyone, so this isn't something to assume you can do.

But if the size of a buy-to-let deposit is the reason you've never considered buying while you're still in military accommodation, you may want to find out more...
