New Legislation - Statutory Bereavement Leave🤍
From April 2027, the statutory parental bereavement rules are changing.
The current legislation is limited to parents suffering the loss of a child under 18 or those who experience a stillbirth before 24 weeks.
From April, the new rules mean employees have a day one right to two weeks unpaid bereavement leave if they lose a spouse or partner, parent, adult child or sibling. This also extends to step, half, adoptive, kinship care and foster relationships.
The rules are also extending to pregnancy loss before 24 weeks including miscarriage, terminations and unsuccesful IVF embryo transfers.
The right has been confirmed but updates will follow with further information as and when it's announced!
