Executive Income Protection is designed for small and medium businesses to cover the cost of providing sick pay benefits to a director or key employees.

The policy is arranged and paid for by the employer (the policy owner) on the life of the employee (person insured). If the employee (person insured) becomes ill or injured and unable to work, the monthly benefit under a claim is paid to the employer (policy owner) who passes onto the employee via PAYE to fund ongoing sick pay.

The employer can also cover other costs (for example their employer’s National Insurance and pension scheme contributions).

Company directors, are you making the most of the tax-efficient way to provide life cover through your business?

For more information on the tax-efficient way to provide life cover through your business, visit our site.

Relevant Life Cover (RLC) allows employers to offer a death-in-service benefit to their employees including directors. It’s a tax-efficient life insurance policy, set up by the employer and pays out a tax-free lump sum on the death (or diagnosis of a terminal illness) of the person insured.

Are Relevant Life Plans cost-effective?

Relevant Life Plans are uniquely tailored to your specific requirements.

The cost to an employer can work out much less than the cost to an employee arranging an equivalent personal life policy.

This type of plan is usually viewed as an allowable business expense by HMRC, all premiums and paid benefits qualify for full Income Tax relief, National Insurance relief and Corporation Tax relief.

This means premiums could be reduced by up to 49% compared to a typical life policy if the employee is a higher rate taxpayer.

For a basic rate taxpayer this figure could be up to 40%

I have saved clients even more by sourcing providers that are more affordable.

A personal plan could be costing you hundreds more per year, and thousands more over the course of the term.
