📉 The BoC has once again lowered its Overnight Rate by 0.25% to 2.25%

Some “Interest-ing” Rate Facts...

🔺 From March 2022 to July 2023, the BoC raised rates 10 times to fight inflation.

🔻 From June 2024 to October 2025, BoC has cut rates 9 times including this morning’s announcement.

⚠️ This is the BoC's 4th rate cut in 2025 and according to a number of top Canadian economists, this is 'possibly' the last for 2025, with ongoing economic reviews and adjustments to continue in 2026 as needed.

💬 What this means for you:
✅Canada’s major banks and lenders to follow by reducing Prime Rate from 4.70% ➡️ 4.45%.
✅ Variable-rate mortgage holders and HELOC clients will soon be paying lower borrowing costs.
✅ Every 0.25% cut saves about $250/year for every $100K borrowed.

📊 Why the BoC is easing:
With economic growth slowing, unemployment hovering above 7%, and inflation at 2.4%, and an ongoing trade war, the Bank is cautiously cutting rates to moderate the downturn.

💡 Fixed Rate Mortgages are not directly correlated to the Overnight Rate, rather bond yields — Fixed rates are also trickling downward, with Lenders now offering rates for 3-YR @ 3.84%, and 5-YR @ 3.94% for 'Insured and Insurable' Purchases and Transfers.

As always, rates are subject to change, O.A.C., and terms & conditions apply. While we don't makes these rules, we do know them inside & out, which how we get our clients approved quickly and stress-free. 😉

The Bank of Canada has maintained its benchmark interest rate at 2.75% for the third consecutive meeting, citing domestic resilience to U.S. trade disruptions. Governor Tiff Macklem noted that while inflation remains near the 2% target and job growth is robust, uncertainty surrounding U.S. trade policy clouds the economic outlook. The bank outlined three possible scenarios dependent on tariff developments and indicated a rate cut could be possible if economic conditions weaken and inflation remains in check. The next scheduled interest rate announcement will be on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.
