Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Lorne Osborne

Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Lorne Osborne CFP® designation holder. Helping professionals build clear, confident financial plans. Your goals deserve someone who cares as much as you do.

I take the time to understand your life, earn your trust, and guide you with heart and experience. Welcome, and thank you for visiting. Choosing a financial advisor is one of the most important decisions you’ll make, and I’m honoured every time someone considers trusting me with their financial future. My philosophy is simple: your goals matter as much to me as they do to you. Whether you’re build

ing wealth, preparing for retirement, growing a business, planning your legacy, or simply looking for greater financial confidence, everything we do starts with understanding what is most important to you. I work with individuals, families, professionals, business owners, and retirees across Canada, helping them make informed decisions and create personalized strategies for their future. While I enjoy helping people at every stage of life, my experience is especially valuable for those seeking comprehensive wealth management and more advanced planning solutions as their financial lives become more complex. Growing up in Northern British Columbia, living in small-town Alberta, and building my practice in Airdrie has taught me the value of relationships, trust, and hard work. My wife and our two children are at the centre of my life, and they remind me every day why financial planning is about so much more than numbers—it’s about creating opportunities and confidence for the people you care about most. I’ve been investing for more than 25 years and have always been passionate about helping others achieve the same confidence and success that comes from having a clear financial plan. What I enjoy most isn’t managing investments—it’s helping people make informed decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and feel confident about where they’re headed. Clients often tell me they appreciate having an advisor who is approachable, responsive, and genuinely invested in their success. That’s exactly the experience I strive to provide every day. If you’re looking for a financial advisor who will take the time to understand your goals, care about your future, and provide personalized guidance every step of the way, I’d welcome the opportunity to meet with you. Book a consultation today and let’s discuss where you are, where you want to go, and how we can help you get there.

THANK YOU

Thank you all so much for being so incredible over these past few days. The support, the messages, the flowers, the cards, the hugs — every bit of it has meant the world to us. Val would have been absolutely blown away by the love and condolences that poured in. She was such a humble, extraordinary human being who touched and changed so many lives.

Her celebration of life was packed with standing room only, with many more watching online. Our office is covered in flowers and cards, and every single one is a reminder of how deeply she was loved.

Today was our first day back, and you could feel her magic in the office. Every laugh, every smile, every moment — you could feel her presence. It felt good to get back to helping people, because that’s what she loved most.

Thank you, everyone, for being so incredible. Your support was felt in every possible way, and it will never be forgotten.

This her blue duck from her sweet jeep. She gets to sit with me everyday at my desk.

Val was a huge part of our family and will forever be on Team Awesome. We will never forget her. We will honor her everyday by keeping her memory alive in this office 🙂

I’ve been trying to find the right words, but nothing feels big enough for someone like Val.

She joined our team a year ago, and somehow it felt like she had always been there. I stopped going to “work” and started spending my days with friends. She made the office feel like home — with her laughter, her kindness, her Costco stories, her gaming nights, her love for her family, and the way she lit up every morning the second she walked in.

She adored her husband, Chris.
She bragged about her kids constantly — Nick & Kelsey, Jonathan & Mya, and Alex.
She loved her people fiercely.

We are gutted.
But we are grateful.
So grateful.

Thank you, Val, for the magic you brought into our lives.
We will carry it forward for you.
Her celebration of life will be Wednesday Sept 2nd at 2:30 at the town and country center in Airdrie.

The burden of proof shifts back to AI skeptics. NVIDIA's earnings reinforced that AI demand and spending remain robust, with customer demand continuing to outpace supply and little evidence that the AI investment cycle is nearing an end.

A new school year is just around the corner, and for many families that means it's time to start drawing from an RESP.

Julie Petrera, our Director of Financial Planning at Edward Jones Canada, shared some helpful perspective in The Canadian Press on the mistakes to avoid — like taking from the wrong portion of the account first, or leaving too much invested in equities too close to withdrawal time.

We work with media to share insights like these because the families we serve are asking these same questions every day. By contributing to credible publications, we help bring timely, trustworthy guidance to clients and families across Canada — not just in our own communities, but wherever these conversations are happening.

If education planning is on your mind, reach out. We're here to help.

As the school year approaches, families across the country are getting ready to tap into their registered education savings plans.

I snapped this picture this morning to celebrate a coworker who retired today — she even sent me a photo of herself smashing her alarm clock. Absolute gold.

Then I sat down to clear a few emails before my first meeting and got the sweetest message from a new client. She’s going through a rough divorce, and when we first met she was so nervous she didn’t even want a hug — which, for a hugger like me, hurt a little, but I completely understood.
Today she emailed to profusely thank us for looking after her and said we make her feel safe and comfortable.
Direct shot to the heart.

My first meeting of the day was with a client whose returns we’ve more than doubled — even with his big withdrawals, he’s sitting well above where he started. We walked through his goals and actually reduced his risk to match his new spending plan.
He told me no one had ever taken the time to understand him and his goals like I did. And that no one asked these questions.

Then he showed me accounts he has elsewhere… all equity funds… in accounts he’s actively drawing on.
I had to take a deep breath…. Then We talked through the risk/reward, and he’s now heading to the bank to ask why that was ever recommended.

And it’s not even noon yet.
My cheeks hurt from smiling.
It’s a glorious day to be in the business of helping people.

Have a great day, everyone.

Keeping up with the markets takes time, research, and ongoing attention.

Most mutual funds give you access to professional investment expertise. Experienced portfolio managers actively manage the fund by researching opportunities, adjusting the portfolio as markets change, and making investment decisions on your behalf.

You also have the confidence of knowing exactly what you own, with fund holdings available through regular reporting and the fund's prospectus.

You may have heard of active investing and passive investing. But what's the difference?

Active investing means that your investments are managed by professionals who research and select investments with the goal of outperforming an index. While there's no guarantee of better performance, this can offer greater potential for returns and reduced risk.

Passive investing aims to match the performance of a market index. Your investment typically rises and falls with the market and comes with lower fees.

The good news? You don't have to choose just one approach.

Many well-diversified portfolios include a mix of active and passive investments. The right balance depends on your financial goals, time horizon, and comfort with risk.

Wondering which approach makes sense for you? Let's connect and build an investment strategy that fits your goals.
