People are not a resource. They are the reason. At Simply, we don't just believe in what we build, we believe in who's doing the building. Each team member brings something to this business that no tool, platform, or process ever could - their perspective, their instinct and their growth.
Here’s a glimpse into some of the technological breakthroughs, work experiences and concepts that intrigue and inspire Aphelele.
“I value learning, consistency, and building a life that’s not just about work, but about progress, balance and staying grounded. I think AI can have a meaningful impact on this pursuit of balance, by reducing repetitive work and speeding up analysis. In my workflow, a lot of time goes into investigating issues, querying data, and identifying patterns - AI can help surface insights faster and suggest possible root causes. Overall, I see AI as a way to improve efficiency and decision-making, while still relying on human judgement for context and accuracy.
However, there are of course instances where human intuition trumps AI, especially in situations that require context, judgement, and accountability. Simply has helped me navigate these changes and adaptations, in that I always feel supported in my work. There was a moment early in my development work, when I was still new to the codebase, that I made a change to a shared piece of logic that was used in a downstream process. That change ended up breaking part of a workflow and temporarily affected productivity for the development team because it introduced unexpected behaviour in a downstream service.
What stood out wasn’t the mistake itself, but the response from the team. Instead of blame, the focus was on understanding what happened, pairing on the fix, and walking through the impact so I could learn the system properly. The team took time to explain the hidden dependencies and why the original structure existed, which I hadn’t fully appreciated at the time. That experience made it clear that mistakes are treated as part of learning, not failure.”
We appreciate the work that you do. ☘️
