Wilmington has some pretty incredible history, and we're proud to be part of it! 💙

The Wilmington StarNews recently highlighted some of the city's oldest businesses, and we're honored to see Wells Insurance among them!

Our story began right here in Wilmington in 1920. More than a century and four generations later, we're still family-owned, still independent, and still proud to call this community home.

And we're in some wonderful company! From familiar restaurants and shops to businesses that have served Wilmington for well over a century, the article is a great reminder of the people and places that make our community special.

🏆 It’s Corporate Cup finale day at Wells!

After a week of friendly competition, team spirit, and fundraising for Smart Start of New Hanover County, we’re wrapping up one of our favorite Wells traditions today!

Our teams are heading out for the final festivities, so a few of our offices will be closing early today Oct 16:

📍 Southport: Closed all day

📍 Oleander: Closing at 2:00 PM

📍 Downtown Wilmington Headquarters: Closing at 2:30 PM

Thank you to our clients and community for your understanding as we take a little time to have fun, cheer each other on, and support a great local cause.

Out of approximately 37,000 independent insurance agencies across the country, only 300 earned or maintained Best Practices Agency status for 2026. And Wells Insurance is one of them!

We’re proud to receive this national recognition once again from the Big “I” and Reagan Consulting.

This isn’t just an award. It’s recognition of the financial strength, stability, and performance behind the agency our clients count on to help protect what matters to them.

And behind it all? A pretty incredible group of people who care about the work they do and the people they serve.

For more than 60 years, Action Pathways has been working across southeastern North Carolina to help individuals and families build greater economic security. Through programs focused on hunger, housing, education, and empowerment, their work addresses some of the challenges that can make it difficult for people and communities to thrive.

The Empowerment Conference brings together leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, advocates, and changemakers to share ideas, build connections, and explore ways to create meaningful change.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!
We want to remind all of our amazing clients out here that we will be closing our offices early today, Friday 9/4 and will remain closed until 8am Tuesday 9/8.

We wish everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend and thank you to all of our hard working Americans out there!

Some traditions are about more than the event itself. They're about the impact they create year after year.

This September, Wells Insurance is honored to support Black's Tire & Automotive Service annual Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina.

Since 2002, this tournament has raised more than $2 million to help provide safe homes, education, and vital support services for children and families across North Carolina. It's a remarkable example of what can happen when businesses, customers, and communities come together for a common purpose.

We're especially excited that two of our Account Executives, Tony Pagrabs and Greg Gibson will be leading Wells Insurance teams on the course as we join others from across the Southeast in supporting this incredible mission.

Thank you to Black's Tire Service for continuing this outstanding tradition and to everyone who helps make a difference for children and families in our state. We look forward to a great day of golf for an even greater cause.

Southport clients and friends - the Wells Insurance Southport office will soon be moving next door into an updated office space designed to better support our team and client experience.

Beginning late July, if you need to stop in to our office, you can find us at the building directly next door at:

1424 N Howe Street
Southport, NC 28461

While the office building itself is changing, what’s most important is staying the same:

⭐ The same local team.
📍 The same convenient Southport area.
💚 The same commitment to responsive, personal service.

Parking will remain available in front of the building, and clients may enter through either the front or rear entrance. Handicap-accessible entry is available at the rear of the building.

During the transition, there may be a brief pause in our ability to assist walk-in visitors as we get settled into our new space. We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming you soon.
