Most people hear "flood" and think heavy rain. The definition is actually broader. Storm surge, snowmelt runoff, mudflow, even shoreline collapse can count as flood events. Flood insurance is what covers them.

As anyone who owns a home or business can understand, sometimes renovations don't always go as planned - especially when you're building is from 1890! Thankfully, our contractor and his skilled crew have been working tirelessly, and uncovering some very cool original details to our building along the way.

Check out the finial from the top of our roof! Something we all thought was metal until today 😅 but it is made entirely of wood!

If you look closely you can also see the original corbels that are placed around the outside corners of the building. These are also made entirely of wood.

Another favorite find we uncovered was the scalloped shingles that existed under our vinyl siding. We always assumed that these were long gone, but they're just been underwraps all this time.

UPDATE – South County Hospital

We have physically cleared South County Hospital. There is no active shooter, no threat has been identified, and there are no victims. Everyone is safe.

K9 teams remain on scene and will continue to conduct an additional secondary sweep of the building as a precaution.

Please continue to refrain from responding to the area while this work is completed. South County Hospital remains on diversion at this time.

We appreciate the cooperation and patience of hospital staff, patients, and the community.

South Kingstown Police have responded to South County Hospital for a reported active shooter incident.

At this time, there is no confirmed shooter and no identified victims. The hospital is currently locked down, and incoming patients are being diverted to other facilities.

Please avoid the area while we investigate. We will provide additional information as soon as it becomes available.
