📍 Where's Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by Williams Brothers Meat Market as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If you've lived around here for any length of time, you know the name. Williams Brothers is a family-owned butcher shop, grocery store, processor, deli, wholesaler, and catering company that has been serving Washington and the surrounding area since 1982.

The story starts with Steve Williams, who purchased the business and built Williams Brothers Meat Market alongside his three brothers — Dan, Chris, and Brian — using techniques they learned as fifth-generation butchers. Those old-world methods are hard to find anywhere today. Williams Brothers still makes its own sausages, salamis, hams, bacons, and snack sticks from local farm-raised pork and beef in their USDA-inspected processing plant, and that's where those one-of-a-kind flavors come from.

Today the sixth generation is carrying it forward. Tim, Mary Kate, and Dan Jr. all work full-time across every part of the business, and you'll find plenty of other family members at food shows, catering events, and sampling tables. It's a true family affair, and they want every customer to feel like part of the Williams family.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize: they serve hot lunches daily — not just sandwiches, but home-cooked meals with homemade sides. The daily menu is posted online and on their social pages, or you can just call and ask what's in the hot case. They also cater everything from small get-togethers to company outings and weddings of any size, with full-service buffet dinners or hot and ready-to-pick-up options.

One more thing worth knowing: if you don't see it in the case or on the website, just ask. People come from all over for a specific cut or a special processed meat, and if Williams Brothers can make it or order it, they will.

As for how the community can support them after 40+ years, their answer was simple — keep doing what you've been doing. Stop in and say hello, talk them up around town, and share a post if it makes you laugh.

Thanks for letting us stop by, Williams Brothers Meat Market!

📍 Where's Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by The Clubhouse Wash MO as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If you haven't been in yet, The Clubhouse is Washington's indoor golf simulator spot right on the riverfront — with a full bar, light bites, and a laid-back atmosphere whether you're golfing or just hanging out. They run GSPro simulators, so you get realistic ball flight, real course conditions, and sharp 3D graphics on every swing.

Owner Matt opened the doors a little over a year ago. Golf has always been a fun hobby for him, and he saw a chance to turn that into something the whole community could enjoy — people of all ages, year-round, rain or shine. Between the location next to so many Washington restaurants and bars and being in the same building as the train station, he says it felt like a no-brainer.

One thing Matt wants people to know: you don't have to be a member. That's been the biggest hurdle — folks assuming it's a private club. It's not. Anyone can book a bay, and you're just as welcome to walk in for a drink and catch a local game on the TVs.

Matt also loves supporting local organizations and schools. If you need something for a raffle or a community basket, reach out to him — he's happy to help.

Ready to play? Book a bay at theclubhousewashington.cloveronline.com and reserve your spot.

Thanks for letting us stop by The Clubhouse!

📍 Where's Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by River City Signs as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If your business needs to get noticed, River City Signs handles it start to finish — consultation, design, and installation. They're a full-service sign company, and they've been at it here in Washington since 2018.

But signs are only part of the story now. About six months ago, they expanded into promotional products, custom apparel, and engraving services. They also offer trade show displays, which is something a lot of folks in the area don't realize yet.

That growth came from a real challenge every small business owner will recognize: keeping things steady through the slower seasons. Demand for custom shirts stays consistent year-round, so branching into apparel helped smooth out the ups and downs of relying on sign sales alone. It's a smart move, and their focus now is on growing what they've built in house across signs, promotional products, and apparel.

River City Signs is a family business run by a husband-and-wife team, and their commitment to the community goes well beyond the shop. Outside of work, they serve and support local veterans in a number of ways — something that clearly matters a great deal to them.

The best way to support them? Give them a chance to bid. If you have a project coming up — signage, apparel, promotional items, engraving, or a trade show display — simply considering them for the job helps a local business keep growing.

Thanks for letting us stop by, River City Signs!

📍 Where’s Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by RC Roofing and Contracting, a local business built around quality work, honest communication, and taking care of the people it serves.

For the RC Roofing team, the most rewarding part of running the business is the community itself. They appreciate the way local residents support small businesses by leaving reviews, recommending trusted companies to friends and neighbors, and sharing their experiences on social media.

That community support is something RC Roofing does not take for granted.

One thing that stood out during our visit was their focus on the customer experience. From the first phone call and inspection to installation and the final walkthrough, their goal is to make every step of the process as smooth and positive as possible.

They know perfection is not always easy to achieve, but they never stop working toward it. For RC Roofing, a project is not truly finished until the customer is completely satisfied with the work and the experience.

Like many growing businesses, one of their biggest challenges has been learning when to say no. The team genuinely wants to help everyone who calls, but they also understand the importance of staying within their area of expertise.

Rather than taking on work they cannot complete to their standards, RC Roofing believes in being honest with customers and referring them to a trusted contractor who is better suited for the job. That commitment allows them to protect the quality of their work while still helping customers find the right solution.

One of the best ways to support RC Roofing is through word-of-mouth. Liking, commenting on, and sharing their social media posts, recommending them to friends and neighbors, and sharing a positive experience all help a local business continue to grow.

RC Roofing is grateful for the support it has received and looks forward to becoming even more involved in the community in the years ahead.

Thanks for letting us stop by, RC Roofing!

I’m hiring for a part-time Customer Care Coordinator for my office in Washington, MO.

I’m not looking for a perfect résumé as much as I’m looking for the right person — someone dependable, organized, friendly on the phone, and the kind of person who finishes what they start.

This is an in-office, afternoon position with no nights or weekends. Insurance experience is not required — we’ll train.

If this sounds like you, or someone you know, email me at [email protected] and I’ll share the details.

Where’s Jake Wednesday?

This week, Jake stopped by N-Sports Rec Center, a local business that has quickly become a place for kids, families, athletes, and the community to gather, compete, celebrate, and connect.

Even though the owners of N-Sports were not born and raised in Washington, they shared that this community has never made them feel like outsiders. From the very beginning, Washington has embraced their family, believed in their vision, supported their mission, and helped transform N-Sports into a place the community can truly be proud of.

While many people know N-Sports for indoor sports, there is so much more happening inside the facility.

N-Sports offers youth and adult soccer leagues, batting cages, indoor TrackMan golf simulators, open play nights, community events, birthday party packages, and a versatile event space for parties and gatherings. Their goal is to create a place where families can come together all year long.

One thing that really stood out during our visit was their heart for local kids. N-Sports works hard to make sure every child has the opportunity to play, including helping organize free-agent youth teams and finding coaches so more kids can get involved.

Right now, one great way local businesses can support N-Sports is by sponsoring one of those free-agent youth teams. It helps keep costs affordable for families, gives young athletes a chance to play, and allows local businesses to show they are investing in kids and youth sports in our community.

Running a facility like N-Sports is no small task. Between supporting staff, keeping the facility clean and welcoming, staying creative with events and programs, and continuing to find new ways to serve the community, the work never really stops.

But at the heart of it all, N-Sports is not just operating a rec center. They are building a place where kids, families, and the Washington community can connect.

And from the sound of it, they have big things coming.

Thanks for letting us stop by, N-Sports Rec Center!
