This week, Jake stopped by Dapper Detailing Co. as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

When was the last time your vehicle, your home, or your business actually felt clean? Most of us don't notice how much road grime, mildew, and buildup collects over time — until it's gone. That's what Collin and the team at Dapper Detailing Co. do: expert automotive detailing and professional pressure washing for both residential and commercial clients.

After seven years of working one-on-one with folks around here, Dapper Detailing recently opened a brand-new brick-and-mortar location right here in Washington. They handle cars, trucks, SUVs, bikes, boats, and fleets, plus driveways, patios, siding, storefronts, and building exteriors — everything from routine upkeep to full transformations.

What stood out to us was how personal the community side of this business is for Collin. He grew up in a military family, and he shapes much of his community work around honoring his grandfather's service. Though he wasn't able to serve himself, he dedicates a lot of his time to supporting veterans and active-duty members.

You've probably seen him out around town, too — at local Blue Jay events and the Biker Night events hosted by neighborhood establishments. Dapper Detailing is always looking for ways to support local schools and non-profits, so if your group needs a gift card or a service donation for an upcoming event, reach out to Collin.

This week, Jake stopped by Dr. Fix It Cell Phone & Electronic Repair as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

Until this September, Will Cooley was running his whole repair business out of a trailer and his garage at home — driving to wherever the broken thing was. Today he's got a storefront on High Street.

Dr. Fix It is a full-service local repair shop for cellphones, computers, appliances, and electronics. Broken screens, charging issues, game consoles, small appliances, and just about any gadget you can throw at them — and they'll recycle your old electronics, too.

Will genuinely enjoys serving this community. He helps local schools work through tech and electrical problems, and he says some of the best moments on the job come when someone walks in convinced they've lost everything on a device, and he's able to recover it. Looking ahead to 2027, his focus is simple: keep learning the newest technology so he can keep serving Washington and the surrounding area well.

He's also got something fun going on right now — The Great Dr. Fix-It Carve-Off. 🎃 Carve the Dr. Fix It logo into a real pumpkin and bring it in for judging on Saturday, October 24. One free entry per person, no purchase necessary. Pumpkins are scored on logo accuracy, creativity, craftsmanship, and how they look lit up. If you've ever walked into a bakery and realized there wasn't a single thing you could safely eat, this one's for you. Birdie's Bakeshop specializes in bakes made without gluten, eggs, or dairy — crafted so that folks with Alpha-Gal Syndrome and other food sensitivities can finally say "yes" to something made just for them. Nobody should have to skip the simple joy of a fresh-baked treat because of hidden ingredients.

Behind the counter is Hedi, a homeschooling mama of ten and a "Grammy" who has spent decades learning how to love people through food. Her journey started back in 2006, baking healthy, natural whole-wheat bread for her own family. That heart for from-scratch quality grew into a storefront right here in Washington in July 2022.

Whether you're stopping in for their famous extra-large cinnamon rolls, a slice of chocolate cake, or decorated shortbread cookies, you're being served by a family-owned team that cares about what goes into your body as much as you do.

This week, Jake stopped by Williams Brothers Meat Market as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If you've lived around here for any length of time, you know the name. Williams Brothers is a family-owned butcher shop, grocery store, processor, deli, wholesaler, and catering company that has been serving Washington and the surrounding area since 1982.

The story starts with Steve Williams, who purchased the business and built Williams Brothers Meat Market alongside his three brothers — Dan, Chris, and Brian — using techniques they learned as fifth-generation butchers. Those old-world methods are hard to find anywhere today. Williams Brothers still makes its own sausages, salamis, hams, bacons, and snack sticks from local farm-raised pork and beef in their USDA-inspected processing plant, and that's where those one-of-a-kind flavors come from.

Today the sixth generation is carrying it forward. Tim, Mary Kate, and Dan Jr. all work full-time across every part of the business, and you'll find plenty of other family members at food shows, catering events, and sampling tables. It's a true family affair, and they want every customer to feel like part of the Williams family.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize: they serve hot lunches daily — not just sandwiches, but home-cooked meals with homemade sides. The daily menu is posted online and on their social pages, or you can just call and ask what's in the hot case. They also cater everything from small get-togethers to company outings and weddings of any size, with full-service buffet dinners or hot and ready-to-pick-up options.

One more thing worth knowing: if you don't see it in the case or on the website, just ask. People come from all over for a specific cut or a special processed meat, and if Williams Brothers can make it or order it, they will.

As for how the community can support them after 40+ years, their answer was simple — keep doing what you've been doing. Stop in and say hello, talk them up around town, and share a post if it makes you laugh.

This week, Jake stopped by The Clubhouse Wash MO as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If you haven't been in yet, The Clubhouse is Washington's indoor golf simulator spot right on the riverfront — with a full bar, light bites, and a laid-back atmosphere whether you're golfing or just hanging out. They run GSPro simulators, so you get realistic ball flight, real course conditions, and sharp 3D graphics on every swing.

Owner Matt opened the doors a little over a year ago. Golf has always been a fun hobby for him, and he saw a chance to turn that into something the whole community could enjoy — people of all ages, year-round, rain or shine. Between the location next to so many Washington restaurants and bars and being in the same building as the train station, he says it felt like a no-brainer.

This week, Jake stopped by River City Signs as we continue highlighting the local businesses and people that make Washington such a great place to live and work.

If your business needs to get noticed, River City Signs handles it start to finish — consultation, design, and installation. They're a full-service sign company, and they've been at it here in Washington since 2018.

But signs are only part of the story now. About six months ago, they expanded into promotional products, custom apparel, and engraving services. They also offer trade show displays, which is something a lot of folks in the area don't realize yet.

That growth came from a real challenge every small business owner will recognize: keeping things steady through the slower seasons. Demand for custom shirts stays consistent year-round, so branching into apparel helped smooth out the ups and downs of relying on sign sales alone. It's a smart move, and their focus now is on growing what they've built in house across signs, promotional products, and apparel.
