Edward Jones-Financial Advisor: Timothy Huber, AAMS Financial Advisor | Helping educators, military families & business owners bring clarity to complex financial decisions Member SIPC.

As a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones, I help individuals, families, and business owners create and implement strategies to help achieve financial confidence, whether planning for retirement, protecting assets, or navigating life’s transitions. My approach is built on trust, education, and service; values shaped by nearly a decade as a school principal and over 18 years (and counting) of servic

e in the United States Air Force National Guard. These experiences taught me the importance of leadership, clear communication, and putting people first. Today, I bring that same commitment to financial assessment; serving clients with personalized strategies that align with their goals. Though I have a special passion for partnering with veterans, military-connected families, and educators, I welcome the opportunity to help anyone seeking clarity and confidence in their financial future. I have earned the Accredited Asset Management Specialist™ designation. I grew up in Vermont and relocated to Raleigh in 2010. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Jenni, and son, Clark, who stays busy with his baseball and swim teams. While my lifelong passion for golf continues, pickleball has become my newest pursuit, and I’ve built many meaningful relationships within this thriving community. If you’re looking for a trusted partner who puts your goals first, let’s connect. I’d love to learn about what matters most to you.

One of my favorite things about summer is having a little more time for days like this.

A round of golf with friends may not be the most productive thing on the calendar, but it’s usually one of the most enjoyable.

For educators, summer can finally open up some room for family, friends, hobbies and the things that get pushed aside during the school year.

What’s your priority; saving for emergencies or spending time with family and friends?

Obviously, both matter. But I think a lot of us struggle with how much to prepare for later versus allowing ourselves to enjoy life now.

What are you hoping to make more time for this summer?

This picture from last summer in West Virginia still makes me smile.

That’s my dad behind me and my son further back, which makes it even more meaningful. Moments like this are a big part of why staying active matters to me.

I want to keep waterskiing, golfing, playing pickleball, traveling and saying yes to adventures with the people I care about for a long time.

Now that educators finally have a little room to breathe after the school year, here’s today’s question:

Have you thought about your health in retirement and how that will impact your financial strategy?

What’s something you hope to keep doing for many years?

I came across this old picture of me with my grandparents, and it got me thinking about the things they taught me without necessarily sitting me down and calling them lessons.

A lot of what we learn about money starts that way. We watch how the adults around us spend, save, give, worry, plan, and talk about what matters.

What’s the best lesson about money your mother, father, or grandparent shared?

I’d love to hear the one that stuck with you.

We just celebrated a 5th grade graduation in our family, and it was another reminder of how quickly children move from one stage to the next.

One minute they’re starting kindergarten, and the next they’re preparing for middle school and talking more seriously about what they might want to do someday.

Have young children? It's important to learn about strategies to help save for their education needs.

As a former educator and a parent, I know there isn’t one path that is right for every child. College, community college, trade school, military service, and other opportunities can all be part of the conversation.

Educators spend so much time helping students prepare for what comes next. Summer can also be a good opportunity to pause and think about the young people in our own families.

Parents and educators: what advice about the future do you find yourself sharing most often with the children in your life?

If I retired today, there’s a good chance tomorrow would include a tee time, ideally somewhere with a view like this.

Not because retirement is only about golf, but because golf represents a few things I’d want more of: time outside, movement, friendships, competition, and the freedom to choose how I spend my day.

For educators, the first real week of summer break can feel like a small preview of having more control over your time.

For months, every day has been planned around bells, meetings, lesson plans, student needs, emails, testing, events, and everything else that comes with the school year.

Then summer starts, and there is finally a little more space to breathe.

So here’s my question for you:

If you retired today, what would you do tomorrow?

Sleep in? Travel? Spend time with family? Volunteer? Start a second career? Play golf? Finally tackle the projects that have been sitting on the list?

There’s no wrong answer. I think the answer says a lot about what people value most when they finally get more control of their time.

Educators, what would your first retirement day look like?
