FSA is strengthening the farm safety net thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act that adds up to 30 million new base acres nationwide. Starting June 1, landowners can update and increase base acres in preparation for enrollment in the Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs for the 2026 and future crop years.

USDA is maximizing disaster assistance support to producers by issuing a second Supplemental Disaster Relief Program payment to eligible producers. Initial payments were factored by 35% and the payment factor is increasing to 70%, meaning producers with approved applications will receive an additional 35% of their calculated payment.

Additionally, producers have more time to apply. The April 30 deadline has been extended to Aug. 12, 2026, for Stage 1 and Stage 2. Update from USDA -- SDRP payments are increasing from 35% to 70%, with approved producers receiving an additional 35% of their calculated payment. So far, $6.7 billion has been distributed for 2023–2024 disaster losses.

The application deadline is now August 12, 2026. Producers with incomplete applications should contact their local FSA office.
