If you hear "we're in underwriting," here's what it means: your file is being double-checked. Income, assets, credit, all of it.

And here's the unofficial rule that comes with it: hold off on new credit cards, car loans or that dream sectional until after closing. New debt or credit changes can slow things down right when you're almost there.

Every home has that one spot where everyone piles in for the photo. For a lot of families, it’s the front step. It’s where the first-day-of-school pictures happen, where the Halloween costumes get their official debut and where the whole crew squeezes in before heading out the door.

Nobody’s sitting still, somebody’s mid-giggle and at least one person is looking the wrong way. And somehow, that’s still the one that ends up on the fridge.
