Has your homeowners insurance gone up lately? You're not alone.

Home insurance has been a hot topic lately, and there are several reasons homeowners are seeing higher premiums. The cost to repair or rebuild a home has gone up, severe weather has resulted in more costly claims, and insurance companies are constantly reevaluating the risks they're taking on.

But here's something a lot of people don't think about…

Different insurance companies can look at the exact same home and come up with very different rates. They also have different underwriting guidelines, discounts, coverage options and appetites for certain types of homes.

We work with multiple great carriers for home, auto, commercial and life insurance, so I can look at what you currently have and see if there's another option that makes sense for you.

Can I ask you a question?

Have you ever thought about getting a second look at your insurance but decided it just wasn't worth the time?

I recently had someone ask me, "Do you think I'm overpaying?"

My answer was, "Well... it really depends."

I told them, "If you want an accurate apples-to-apples comparison, I'll just need a few pieces of information—your address, date of birth, driver's license numbers, VINs for your vehicles, and if you're willing to send me your current policies, I can compare everything side by side."

"But if you just want my best blind judgment, I can do that too."

We gathered everything together, and here's what happened...

We increased their coverage in just about every way possible, kept the deductibles the same, added an umbrella policy, and they still walked away paying about $1,600 less per year.

Now, I'm not saying every situation ends like that. Some people already have great rates. Others might not save much at all. And sometimes the biggest win isn't the price—it's finding gaps in coverage before they become expensive problems.

The point is this: you don't know until you look.

I've noticed something...

Most people aren't avoiding important things because they don't matter—they're just busy.

They ignore them because life gets busy.

We put off scheduling the doctor's appointment.

We put off changing the batteries in the smoke detector. (Until you can hear it in your dreams)

We put off reviewing our insurance.

Not because we don't think it's important—but because we all busy!

The funny thing about insurance is that the best time to review it is when everything is going well, not after something happens.

That's why I enjoy what I do.

Sometimes the biggest value I can provide isn't finding someone a lower premium. It's helping them make sure they're protected before they ever need to find out. (And if I can put money back in your pocket.... BONUS!)
