UPDATE: Incoming steadier and soaking rain. This is expected to *limit* the overall severe weather risk for Northwest Ohio. The SPC as removed the enhanced risk from northwest Ohio and maintains a lower “slight” risk. Still be alert and vigilant, while severe storm risks are lower, it’s still possible. Rain, thunderstorms and torrential downpours may still lead to localized flooding. (Radar 12:45 pm)

Is your pool the Summer hotspot for the neighborhood?
It's great to be able to host friends, but does your insurance have you covered in case of an injury or incident?

Under Ohio law, a pool is considered an "attractive nuisance" because it is an artificial condition on your property that could entice children to trespass.

Even if a child is on your property without permission, you may still be held liable for injuries they sustain if:

*The pool was left unsecured.

*You knew, or should have known, that children were likely to enter the area.

*You failed to take reasonable steps (like fencing) to prevent access.

How Can You Protect Yourself?
Your standard homeowner’s insurance may cover some pool-related incidents, but it is often not enough to cover the high costs of a severe injury lawsuit.

*Review Your Policy: Call your agent to see what is covered and, more importantly, what is excluded.

*Get an Umbrella Policy: Many Ohio pool owners opt for an umbrella liability policy. For a relatively small annual premium (often in the $150–$350 range), you can gain $1 million or more in extra liability coverage. It is often considered the "gold standard" for protecting your home and personal assets.
